So, The story came out when I was so amazed at last Hot Import Daze when I look at Gettinlow.com ‘s booth and saw those big body sedans park low with deep and also big diameter wheels. The club that amazed me was VIP Car Indonesia Society, or you may call IndoVIP. After finally my good friend who’s also joined the IndoVIP, I finally can reach Mr. Budi, one of the IndoVIP founder.
The origin of VIP car style was from Japan, and oddly that the VIP Style history have often been linked to the yakuza or we may say the japanese gang or mafia. With their luxury modification that been put on a flagship luxury JDM cars just to avoid police suspicions and rival gangs. The term VIP style was often spelled ‘Vee Eye Pee’ means Very Important Person that reflect the luxury of the cars. It clearly means the VIP style was a modification style from a wealthy person that have interest in modifying their luxury cars. The other spells of VIP is ‘BIPPU’
In Indonesia, the VIP style was came long ago. Around 2005 when I came to the Djarum Black Auto Blackthrough as one of the biggest car show that year equipped with my little knowledge and experience about modifying cars (thanks for Need For Speed Underground to gave me a little bit of knowledge) , I’ve seen many cars that applies this kind of modification. A toyota Alphard with big chrome wheels, Big sedans with black paint and super sleek. But it was an interesting scene that many Indonesian like to applies this kind of styling in many of car types. Not just big sedans, many Indonesians like to apply this on a a small sedan, or even MPV. We can say that as an Indonesian, we have a wide creativity in modifying cars. You may say, the sky is the limit!
The story of how Indovip founded was from the idea of Mr. Budi, Reza, Arie, Gede, and Steve that gathers to talk about their VIP cars and building it together. By firstly getting know each other just only via BBM, they shared and build their own Japanese VIP cars to be more cool and awesome. Not only that, with their humble and generous attitude, they also share their knowledge to many other people that have interest in having and building a VIP car. So that’s why the community grew well.
This Toyota Celsior was very rare to see. You may get lucky when you see one of these. The first time I saw this car equipped with Leonhardiritt Waffe, I was jaw dropped. But when Steve Calvin brought this Nissan Cima to the meet up, the car was equipped with SSR Vienna. He said that there more to come in this car. A silent project maybe. But still this BIPPU personalization was on a high level!
This Nissan Cima was one of the best VIP that I’ve ever seen here. This beast owned by Mr. Budi himself. After swapped his Leonhardiritt orden to Fabulous Expand 12″ wide, this Nissan Cima looked more awesome than before. Kudos to Mr. Budi for having and building this awesome Nissan Cima.
And there he is, Gustavo Pane who came with his sleepy eyes after got shocked while woke up. Well, hopefully he came with his awesomely built Toyota Mark X in one piece!
This Toyota Crown was also cool. Mr. Reza put an air supension to his Toyota Crown and Equipped the Crown with deep dish Leonhardiritt Orden with K-Sport Big Brake kit, this Crown was sleek but eye catchy in its own style, especially when this car was on the lowest level. As you can see the camber was very proper and beautiful. And those deep dish tho! Really mindblown. We hope that we can feature this car ASAP
When I was meeting the IndoVIP guys, I met with the packs from Karimun Club Indonesia with their K-VIP Style on their Suzuki Karimun or WagonR. Seeing a scene like this was reminds me of how fast Indonesian car culture grows. I remember the most radical modification of Suzuki Wagon R that have ever made was from Jacobson that chopped the top of the Wagon R. At that time as a kid who have a big interest on car modification, I think that modification was awesome. Unforgettable!
Well Gustavo finally found his click with this fitment and all you can see was a sleek, and super cool Toyota Mark X ever! LOL
You may look twice. The surface was almost flat, you can see how low both of this car. Kudos and fully respect for those who still applied on Static Suspensions setup. Because sometimes beauty is pain.
It’s a pleasure experience for driving a Toyota Crown, especially for Rizqy. You can look at his happy face!
Well, Japanese Big sedans like this Toyota Crown has it’s own big stock engine, but it was different with Adit who’s upgraded his engine to be faster than ever!. so that’s why Adit always like to push his car faster and faster. Of course with his sleek and propper add on that he’s just put on his lovely Toyota Crown
Well, Building a VIP car in Indonesia was not an easy thing to do. With the rarity of the aftermarket parts for big sedans, we may have difficulties to face Indonesian roads. But seeing the people that have passion to building it and make it a good community was very good thing to hear and its good to meet this generous people from VIP Car Indonesia. We hope we can meet again sooner or later and see their more precious builds on their BIPPUs. Well, see ya later guys!
Cheers.
